Help us name this new park!

If you're searching for sweeping views of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands, then this is the park for you!

This 17-acre waterfront park, currently referred to as Cornwall Beach Park, is located at the 500 block of Cornwall Avenue. It is a key feature in City and Port of Bellingham waterfront improvement plans and offers extraordinary views of Bellingham Bay along with public access to the water. When complete, it will be another treasured destination in the City’s park system. Design and permitting are underway for phase 1 improvements, with an anticipated start date in year 2023 or 2024.

A park of this size and grandeur deserves a stand-out name. Most projects start off with a simple, geographic name until a final name is selected. The public is invited to submit name suggestions, which will be forwarded to the Bellingham Parks & Recreation Board and Bellingham City Council for final approval.

This phase of work includes construction of underground utilities, trails, beach access, and habitat planting consistent with the adopted master plan. Development of this park is funded and permitted separate from the cleanup projects. For more information about the cleanups, please see the Important Links section of this page. Please add your park name ideas and like other ideas in the "Add your park name suggestion here!" box below.

Other opportunities for public input will occur in future phases of development. For more information about this project, please visit the main project page.
