Help us design the new playground!
Please review the three different playground concepts, then take a quick survey to let us know what you like!
The final selection of playground option depends on public input, and we look forward to hearing from you. In addition to the online survey, Parks and Recreation Dept. staff will be attending the February 11, 2025, Silver Beach Neighborhood Association meeting to present the 60% design in person.
Project Description
The City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department is replacing the existing playground at Bloedel Donovan Park, located in the Silver Beach Neighborhood at 2214 Electric Avenue. When complete, residents will have a new, safe, and accessible playground and new site furnishings. This playground replacement project is intended to broaden the range of recreational opportunities and organize park amenities to activate more of the park.
Why replace the existing playground?
The current Gametime playground, installed by a contractor in 1999, is ready for an update. Replacement will provide the next generation of park users with fun, accessible, challenging, and cooperative play opportunities while providing diverse sensory experiences.
Project objectives:
Demolish the existing playground equipment and replace with a new playground to accommodate the desired age range, to be confirmed during the public process. The existing playground envelope will be reused or expanded as needed.
