With the help and support of our community, the City of Bellingham develops and implements strategies to reduce the impact of government and community activities on our climate. This is necessary in order to ensure a healthy, vibrant, safe and equitable home for current and future generations, as promised in Bellingham’s Legacies and Strategic Commitments.

In February 2021, Bellingham City Council approved a 2021 Climate Implementation Plan developed by City staff through a vetting process called the Climate Policy Approval Process. This plan outlines the tasks from the Climate Action Plan (CAP) and Climate Action Task Force (CTF) Final Report that City staff have been prioritizing in 2021, and provides details on estimated level of effort, known major milestones within each task, and the role of City Departments in supporting each task. The Climate Implementation Plan will be reviewed and updated each year after receiving public input and Council approval.
